City of Missoula

How city government works.

Missoula sits at the Clark Fork, with the University of Montana nearby and a working small-business core. Inside city limits, the mayor and City Council set local taxes, zoning, public safety, and city services.

City Hall

Mayor and City Council

Missoula uses a mayor–council form of government. The mayor is elected citywide. The council has twelve members: six wards, two representatives each. Council members must live in the ward they represent.

City Council seats are by ward. Use the city’s ward map to see who represents your neighborhood.
