Dear Friends,
I’ve included an article that was published recently in the Western Montana News.
It’s a sad day for the Missoula community when intolerant individuals trash everyone’s First Amendment rights. When I asked businesses to sponsor a civic-minded event at the Western Montana Fair, I thought it would help their companies gain exposure to the 150,000 faces that attend the fair each year, not damage them. I apologize for the unfair adverse effect it may have on your business.
Missoulians must recognize the pattern developing in their community. We saw this in Venezuela. It starts with harassment, then intimidation, and ends in tyranny. When citizens and businesses feel intimidated into not advertising freely, they must secretly associate with one another for fear of reprisal. You may be geographically in America, but without her protection and rights. This is disguised as partisan left. But it’s the beginning of something much worse.
The silver lining of this unfortunate reality is that it may spark a long-overdue public discourse. Conservative Missoulians and businesses should not have to live in this type of toxic political environment. We will stand up against this type of behavior.
I was born 74 years ago in this community. We respected adults, neighbors, police officers, and our teachers. We felt proud to say the Pledge of Allegiance in class. We esteemed being Americans. Many of our fathers fought in WWII, and some died to prevail over the hate of Nazi Germany. We have fought our heritage to treat each other so poorly.
Our countrymen invested life and treasure to preserve America’s freedoms for nearly 250 years. We disrespect their sacrifice when we treat each other so poorly.
The mission of the MCRCC is to transform the way we communicate conservative values in our community. We are committed to telling the truth, holding local government accountable, and protecting the interests and pocketbooks of all Missoulians. It’s become socially and financially uncomfortable to live and call Missoula our home.
I would like you to stay tuned as we continue to develop and implement a strategy in response to this conduct.

Finance Chair MCRCC
