Montana’s voter ID law and same-day registration cutoff are under attack and are currently being challenged in court — and we need your help to defend them.

The Montana Republican Party’s legal team, working alongside the Secretary of State’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office, has reached out to the Missoula Republican Central Committee asking for members of our community who are willing to provide a short sworn affidavit in support of two election integrity bills passed by the Montana Legislature in 2025:

SB 276 — Requires a current, valid photo ID to vote in person.

SB 490 — Closes same-day voter registration at noon on Election Day, with registration also available the Saturday before Election Day.

These laws were designed to streamline election day operations, reduce wait times, and speed up the reporting of results. Opponents are claiming these laws harm voters’ ability to participate in elections. We believe that is not the case — and the legal team needs people who can say so under oath.

What You Would Be Affirming

The affidavit is straightforward. As a declarant, you would be stating that:

• SB 276 and SB 490 did not negatively impact your ability to vote in the 2025 Primary or General Election
• You are not aware of these laws negatively impacting other Montana voters
• You do not believe these laws will negatively impact your ability to vote in future elections

This is a sworn declaration under penalty of perjury, so it’s important that you only sign it if these statements are genuinely true based on your own experience.
