RNC Chair Michael Steele to Keynote MT GOP Convention
Today the Montana Republican Party announced that Michael Steele will give the keynote address at the party’s 2010 Platform Convention. Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, will speak at the convention’s concluding banquet on Saturday, June 19.
Will Deschamps, chair of the Montana Republican Party, called Steele a “dynamic voice for conservatives,” and said, “I’ve heard Chairman Steele speak. His passion for conservative issues is impressive. I know this is going to make the convention banquet a huge success.”
Steele was scheduled to keynote the MT GOP’s Winter Kickoff event in February but was kept from attending by the blizzard that shut down most air travel out of Washington. At the time he requested the next possible opportunity to make good on his intent to visit Montana’s Republicans.

Chairman Deschamps Reveals Startling Facts About Dennis McDonald
Montana Republican Party Chairman, Will Deschamps released the following statement following the primary victories of Republican Denny Rehberg and Democrat Dennis McDonald:
“It’s a difficult day for Montana Democrats. While Republicans nominated a popular incumbent who appeals to the Party faithful and independent voters alike, Democrats responded to voter anger and the demand for transparent and honest government by nominating the candidate who most represents everything that is wrong with Washington, D.C. They chose to forgo integrity and honest debate in favor of a candidate whose sordid past, questionable character and extreme leftist ideology was undoubtedly shaped during his many years as a San Francisco trial lawyer.
“From socialized medicine to cap and tax, Dennis McDonald has repeatedly demonstrated how out of touch he is with Montana. At every chance, he’s aligned himself with the extreme Pelosi-Reid-Obama agenda. As a trial lawyer, McDonald was sued for malpractice no fewer than six times during his 20-year career. On one of these occasions a severely injured woman lost her ability to pursue litigation simply because McDonald was “too busy” to file the paperwork on time.
“Mr. McDonald has refused to answer the tough questions about his past. This includes his seedy association with confessed murderer and Mafia hit-man, Jimmy “The Weasel” Frattiano. Dennis McDonald refuses to account for the raucous parties in Las Vegas, weekends of football and cards with The Weasel, or the luxury Bay area home McDonald rented to Frattiano for more than a year, free-of-charge. Even now, Mr. McDonald continues to receive royalties from the book Vengeance is Mine by Ovid Demaris which, in graphic detail describes the murderous exploits of McDonald’s close friend, Frattiano. Montana needs character and conviction. Dennis McDonald has neither.”
Senators Baucus and Tester Are Avoiding Public Scrutiny, and the media is noticing
The Daily Inter Lake wrote an editorial criticizing Montana’s two Democrat Senators for avoiding public scrutiny of their actions. The Inter Lake wrote, “They have conspicuously avoided holding wide-open forums with the public in recent months.”
That calls to mind recent revelations that Senator Tester’s forest bill is only accessible to Washington insiders who aren’t willing to share information with the public.
